how do i change the scale of my "flames"

Postby buweaukwat » 16 Feb 2010, 09:04

I'm trying to produce a small burst of flames. I had the resolution scale set to 5 so that i could work faster, but now when i set it to 1 to see it high-rez, the scale of the flames has changed. Instead of 5-6 flames i suddenly have perhaps 20. I sort of understand why the higher rez causes this, but i don't know how to get the hi rez version looking like the low rez. How can i make the flames bigger? i turned the burn rate to 2 and the vorticity to 0.5 and i still have a ton of little flames coming off my fuel source.

You can try decreasing the Vorticity parameter as well as increasing the Heat Diffusion and Fuel Scale parameters.
With increasing resolution, the swirls become finer and introduce more turbulence, breaking up the flames earlier.
The changes of the 3 parameters help to counteract this effect.
